Tottenham morning news: Spurs linked with City star; Defoe reveals frustration

A select round-up of news relating to Tottenham Hotspur

The Sun reports that Tottenham are considering a move for Manchester City midfielder James Milner.

The England international has little over a year left on his current deal and is reportedly being made to wait to discuss a possible new one.

This apparently means Tottenham could swoop for one of the Blues’ most consistent players. Although we cannot see Manuel Pellegrini parting company with Milner even with the other stars at his disposal.

In other news, former Spurs striker Jermain Defoe has been talking to the Sunday Express about his move to the MLS.

He has revealed his frustration at featuring predominantly in the Europa League and missing out on domestic matters, despite continuing his innate goal-scoring form.

It was so frustrating towards the end,” Defoe said. “I was playing, more in Europe, scoring every game, but not getting into the league team. I think I started one game in the league against West Ham and that was it.

But you just can’t sit around on the bench when you’ve got so much to offer.”

Defoe is expected to make his Toronto debut next Saturday.
