Arsenal midfielder: I'm a fighter

Flamini Warm Up

Arsenal midfielder Mathieu Flamini believes in the character of this Gunners side as they head into their clash with Bayern Munich at the Allianz Arena.

The French enforcer re-signed for the North Londoners in the summer after leaving the Emirates in 2008 and he believes Arsene Wenger’s current team is capable of fighting for titles this term.

"What I would say is maybe character. That is important, especially in the English league. I'm someone who gives a lot on the pitch, fight for every ball. I'm a fighter, so I do that naturally," he told the Evening Standard.

Arsenal also signed club record signing Mesut Ozil from Real Madrid this summer and, despite some criticism in recent weeks, the Germany international returns to his homeland this week hoping to help his side overturn a two-goal deficit suffered in the first leg of the last sixteen tie at the Emirates.

“Everyone is giving more - I really have that sensation. Everyone is committed to each other and that's important,” he added.

Ozil had taken some criticism for some lackluster performances, most notably against the European champions in the first leg, which saw the Gunners reduced to ten men after Wojceich Szczesny was sent off.

However, the 25-year-old German put in a superb display in the FA Cup quarterfinal at the Emirates on Saturday which Arsenal won 4-1 to progress past Everton to the semi-finals with the opening goal and an assist for the Gunners' fourth of the afternoon and it’s exactly that kind of fighting spirit Flamini will hope to inspire into the side that faces the Bundesliga champions.

"We really want a trophy. Everyone was very focused on the [quarter-final] game against Everton because we all know - you win, you're through,” explained the Frenchman.

"You lose, you're out, so it's very simple. I can assure you I will do everything I can to make a difference."
