16-year-old 'Korean Messi' rejects big money at Chelsea and Liverpool to stay with Barcelona

Lee Seung-Woo scored more goals at youth level than Lionel Messi - and he has rejected Premier League advances.

Barcelona have become worryingly accustomed to watching some of their prized assets leave for big clubs abroad - after being nurtured at the club and raised in the Barcelona mould there has been plenty an occasion of scavenging in the past.

Last summer they again lost big youth talents - as Josimar went to Chelsea, Julio Pleguezuelo, went to Arsenal and Canos moved to Liverpool, so they are understandably not keen on losing any more of their star talents.

One such talent is 16-year-old South Korean Lee Seung-Woo.

He has been described as the ‘Korean Messi’ in Spain and with good reason. For the under-15s Lee scored an incredible 38 goals in 29 games - at the same age Messi bagged just 37 in 30.

He has recently been at the centre of ineligibility claim by FIFA president Sepp Blatter - but he turned 16 in January and is therefore now eligible to commit to a deal with the club.

Premier League sides such as Chelsea and Liverpool have reportedly offered him QUADRUPLE the salary Barca can and will pay for him - but Lee looks set to snub English football anyway.

Mundo Deportivo report that his agent Pete Guardiola has agreed a pre-contract arrangement which will be signed on Monday - the day he will also relocate permanently to Catalonia.

Barca are said to have also found a way to accommodate his family in the area.

The contract reportedly runs until the end of the season - but will automatically renew in the summer for a further three years with a release clause potentially being in place for a fee as high as €12 million.

However, in a similar case to that of Bertrand Traore at Chelsea Lee will not be allowed to play in official matches for the club - instead he will participate in friendly games and train with the club until he turns 18.
