PICTURE: Spurs star jokes about Sigurdsson's name in Twitter shout-out

White Hart Lane 3

Andros Townsend has taken to Twitter to give a shout-out to Tottenham Hotspur's match-winner yesterday.

For a while it looked like being a Sunday to forget for Tottenham Hotspur's fans and players. But then, after two goals from Christian Eriksen brought them level against Southampton, Gylfi Sigurdsson scored a last-gasp winner.

The result was much-needed for both the team and their manager Tim Sherwood, and the result saw them climb back into the top-five, all be it with Everton having two games in hand.

Given their poor recent form, the win could not have been more welcome, and this morning Andros Townsend took to Twitter to show his appreciation for Sigurdsson's late strike.

Although in so doing he also appeared to make a cheeky joke about the Icelandic player's name, referring to him as Siluf Gudjersson.

The joke appears to stem from a failed attempt by pundit Kevin Philiips to pronounce the player's name, but whatever his Spurs teammates want to call him, they will hope he keeps finding the net between now and the end of the season.

How vital was Sigurdsson's goal yesterday, and how much do you rate the player?
