VIDEO: Is this Gareth Bale's best goal yet?

Bale Real Madrid

After a tough week for former Tottenham Hotspur player Gareth Bale, he was back on form for Real Madrid on Saturday night with a brace.

Two defeats in a week is quite a rarity for a club like Real Madrid. Last weekend's El Clasico defeat was painful enough, but to then come up short against a Sevilla side outside the Champions League places threatened to completely undo Real's La Liga title hopes.

Gareth Bale bore a fairly large brunt of the criticism in both games. Not at his best against Barca and then infamously off the field tying his shoelaces when Sevilla scored their winner, the Welshman was once again an easy target for Real's shortcomings in the Spanish media. An apparent argument with Galatico number one Cristiano Ronaldo over a late free-kick in Seville didn't help either.

So it was vital that Real and their record-signing made headlines for the right reasons when they took on mid-table Rayo Vallecano on Saturday night.

And boy they didn't disappoint.

Ronaldo and co battered their opponents 5-0, with Ronaldo opening the scoring, alongside strikes from Dani Carvajal and Alvaro Morata. But the real talking point from the match was a double from Bale.

The first goal was simple tap in after Angel Di Maria crossed superbly from the left.

But Bale's second was what the Welshman was all about. From a Rayo corner, a headed clearance  fell to Bale on the edge of the area, getting his boot ahead of two Rayo players he burst beyond them ignoring the shameless attempts to pull him back. Driving forward and leaving his Real teammates behind, Bale went round former West Ham defender Razvan Rat defender before beating Ruben with a cool finish from the edge of the area.

Box to box, the whole episode took just over 8 seconds - no wonder Cristiano Ronaldo was struggling to catch up with the former Tottenham star.

Maybe the papers will be a little kinder in the morning.

Was Bale's goal against Rayo Vallecano his best ever?
