The 22-year-old playmaker joined the club only months after Didier Drogba departed for China, and incidentally took his iconic number 11 shirt on arrival.
Despite never playing on the same team, Oscar did manage to share the pitch with the former Chelsea striker during Jose Mourinho’s side’s recent Champions League victory over Drogba’s current team Galatasary.
Other than the disappointing result, it was a special moment for Didier Drogba and the way in which he was embraced by the Stamford Bridge crowd has rubbed off on Oscar.
Reported by the Daily Star via Sambafoot, the Brazilian international labels Drogba as his idol and wishes to write his own chapter in the Chelsea history books.
He said: “Didier was always an idol. I'd watched him lots on the TV and then suddenly I was wearing the same Chelsea jersey he always wore. I feel very proud about that.
"But I am writing my own story. I have my own style and hopefully I will be able to have my own great story at Chelsea - just like he did."
Oscar has been in excellent from for Chelsea throughout the season, scoring eight goals in 22 Premier League appearances.
Despite Chelsea’s loss at Crystal Palace, the Blues still remain firmly in the title-race and there is still time for Oscar to add to the Europa League crown he won last season.
Will Oscar follow in the footsteps of Didier Drogba and become a Chelsea idol?
