How did Bayern’s officials react to the draw against Manchester United?

They all seemed quite content, but is this result really that good for Bayern?

Apparently Bayern’s players and coach have still a lot of respect for Manchester United, otherwise they might have evaluated the result against the Red Devils in a different way.

Especially Guardiola, who surprised when he revealed his point of view.

“I am quite pleased. Man United is one of the best teams in the world.”

It seems as if Guardiola hasn’t spent a lot of time recently watching Premier League matches on the weekend, otherwise he would have realized that United are a big club with a lot of tradition, but at the moment far away from belonging to the best teams of the world.

Also Bayern’s manager Matthias Sammer didn't present a worried impression after the match: “They were physically very strong, and tried to counter-attack. They did that in an excellent way, it was difficult for us. We gladly accept the result.”

Ahead of the match there was much focus on Bayern’s midfielder Toni Kroos who has been linked with Manchester United for quite a while now. That’s why it was interesting to see how he commented on the result.

“It was a difficult match. We were somewhat dominant during the whole time. United fought with everything and permitted only a few chances. But a 1-1 result also has to be enough in a Champions League quarter-final. It wasn’t okay, that everybody said before the match that we had a free ticket."

Bayern's respectfulness of United is a good trait, but it is a surprise that nobody from the Champions League holders mentioned that they could have achieved even a better result.

The statistics show that Bayern had the ball three times much as the Red Devils and that they shot 16 times on United’s goal while Manchester only did so on six occasions.

Despite their unpleasant season have United still a good team and a 1-1 result is very good for an away game, but the match showed that Bayern still have to work on their efficiency. Sometimes it’s just not enough to play like Barcelona, if you don’t have Messi in your squad.
