Manchester United beat Newcastle United 4-0 at St James' Park earlier today.

Manchester United beat Newcastle United 4-0 this afternoon, in an impressive display that bodes well for their upcoming Champions League match against Bayern Munich.

David Moyes' side went ahead in the 39th minute when Juan Mata scored a sublime free-kick.  He would then go on to double United's lead five minutes after half-time.

Javier Hernandez - in a rare start - scored the third after it was his shot that came back off the woodwork to set up Mata's second.

With the game ticking into injury-time, Adnan Januzaj added a fourth condemning a disappointing Magpies side to an emphatic defeat.

The result means the visitors climb up to sixth while the hosts remain in ninth.
