John Terry is the English Carlos Tevez - Now is the time to act!

Lampard And Terry

As Argentine football fans look set to march for Tevez's inclusion in the national team, should England fans follow suit for the Chelsea skipper?

For two players that rarely saw eye-to-eye, they certainly have a lot in common at this moment in time.

Reports have surfaced in Italy over Argentinian fans threatening a type of protest in order to get Juventus striker Carlos Tevez included into the World Cup squad. Which with their current frontline, perhaps isn't as desperate as they make out.

Although Tevez has been in scintillating form recently, there is still a large array of strikers within the Argentine set-up ready to take his place. Messi, Aguero, Higuain, Lavezzi and Palacio are the expected choices for the World Cup. So with or without Tevez, Argentina still have an attack most countries can only dream of, yet the former Premier League star is immensely popular in his homeland.

However, in our own backyard there seems to be a similar situation, just without the array of talent ready to step in.

In the case of John Terry, his exclusion for the World Cup squad hurts us more than if we left out any other player. He is simply a fantastic defensive leader, and with or without the captaincy, he would carry the experience to organise the defence to a military standard.

This is in spite of the fact he has comfortably been England's best defender this season, by a country mile too.

So, would it be reasonable to suggest fan power could work, both with Terry and Hodgson, in order to get the Chelsea skipper back into the England squad?

I would argue it wouldn't make a difference on the selection, however, I would happily fight to see England travel to Brazil in the best state possible, rather than them inevitably leaving a potential key player at home.

It will be interesting to see what happens with regards to Tevez, but if he does make it to Brazil, I imagine the frustrations regarding the Terry situation will surface, especially if we endure a poor tournament.

Should England fans a public outcry to include Terry in the Brazil squad?
