Secret weapon? - Former Arsenal starlet best buds with 16 goal striker target

Frankenstadion - 1. FC Nurnberg

Martin Angha and Josip Drmic room together at FC Nurnberg - what would the defender tell the striker about Arsenal after interest in the player?

Arsenal are said to be after a new striker this summer. With Nicklas Bendtner departing, Olivier Giroud off colour and Yaya Sanogo unproven there is little wonder why they are so keen to snap up a new goalscorer.

One name that has come to the fore recently is that of Josip Drmic.

The Swiss international has bagged 16 goals in 29 appearances this campaign since joining FC Nurnberg from FC Zurich in the summer.

Reportedly available at €5 million should the club get relegated - he is also being scouted by Everton, Borussia Dortmund and Bayer Leverkusen - and Nurnberg managing director Martin Bader did recently state:

"I'm not going to stand there and say, Josip is not for sale."

The same man has also claimed no deal is done while Lothar Matthaus claimed it was all but signed, sealed and delivered - as his wife was looking at apartments in London.

Drmic is single!

So with all this rumour and conjecture flying around it would be great if Arsenal had somebody on the inside who could help persuade him to join The Gunners.

Maybe a former player, from the same country, about the same age and who is in regular contact with Drmic.

Somebody like - Martin Angha.

The Swiss pair both arrived at the club this summer and the former Arsenal starlet rooms with Drmic on away days - so they have plenty of time to chat.

Angha’s departure from Arsenal was announced a year ago today, and was by all accounts amicable - the player simply no longer wanting to wait for his first-team opportunities and Arsenal happy to let him explore other options.

He confirmed there were no hard feelings in an interview after the move:

“It was not about leaving England. The aim was to find a club where I can play regular professional football and develop myself. I believe I found that with Nuremberg and I’m looking forward to the Bundesliga.”

With Drmic’s future up in the air - the pairs discussions when in close quarters could sway his mind either way.

For Arsenal fans wanting to see Josip Drmic at The Emirates - they better hope Angha has only good things to say about his former club.

Will Angha tell Drmic to come to Arsenal?
