Should Arsenal or Tottenham make a move for M'Baye Niang?

M'baye Niang

AC Milan striker M'Baye Niang is seemingly up for sale again this summer - which could rekindle interest from Arsenal and Tottenham.

Niang, 19, was a wonderkid with French side Caen in 2012, and even had trials with Arsenal as boss Arsene Wenger looked to steal a march on his competitors, with many of Europe's top sides looking to snap up the teenage starlet. The Gunners even had a £5m bid rejected in the summer of 2012, but it was Milan who landed his signature just weeks later.

Manager Massimiliano Allegri was looking to inject his ageing Rossoneri side with some much needed youth and athleticism, and Niang certainly fit the bill. When he scored against Reggina in the Coppa Italia fixture in December 2012, Niang's goal made him the youngest goalscorer in the club's history - and big things were predicted for him once again.

But ever since then, Niang's career has stalled somewhat, having failed to break into the Milan side and he was linked with moves away from the San Siro in January, and despite some lofty interest, it was Montpellier who managed to sign him on loan until the end of the season.

With three goals and two assists for the Ligue 1 side, it hasn't been a stunningly successful stint for Niang, but whilst they would like to keep hold of him, President Louis Nicollin has admitted that the club can't afford to sign him on a permanent basis this summer.

"We will meet with Milan to talk about Niang because he is too expensive," Nicollin said.

The news that Niang will be available could spark interest from North London rivals Arsenal and Tottenham, who have both been credited with an interested in Niang before and will be looking for attacking reinforcements at the end of the season. Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger's history with French players and young starlets could put him in the lead for his signature, particularly after making such a concerted effort to land him two years ago - but is he good enough to make an impact at the Emirates Stadium?
