Liverpool's €8m star Tweets delight at return from injury layoff

Sebastian Coates

Liverpool defender Sebastian Coates stepped on to the pitch last night for the first time since August.

Uruguayan international centre-back Sebastian Coates made his much-awaited comeback last night following his eight month layoff with injury.

The 23-year-old sustained an ACL knee ligament injury whilst on international duty in August, and was subsequently ruled out for the majority of the season.

In the January transfer window, the Premier League leaders allowed their player to re-join his previous club Nacional in his native Uruguay whilst he recovers from injury.

It was a move which has paid off as Sebastian Coates made his official return to action last night, coming off the bench 10 minutes into the second half during Nacional’s Copa Libertadores 1-0 defeat to Gremio.

Despite the loss, it was ultimately a personal triumph for the Liverpool man and he took to social networking site Twitter to express his delight at returning.

He Tweeted:
