Were United watching? Toni Kroos COMPLETES 112 passes at Real Madrid

Real Madrid Bernabeu

Bayern Munich star & Manchester United target Toni Kroos returned a 97% pass accuracy against one of the most revered world teams, in their own stadium!

Long-term Manchester United transfer target Toni Kroos ended up on the losing side as Bayern Munich took on Real Madrid in a clash of the European titans at Real's home ground the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu, however, despite the 1-0 loss, it was Bayern who dominated the proceedings, particularly - unsurprisingly - when it came to possession and there was one man who stood out.

Accomplished veterans on the Champions League circuit such as Bastian Schweinsteiger and Philipp Lahm completed 49 and 80 passes respectively, indeed commendable considering the environment they were competing in - away from Germany and in the Bernabeu - but it was Kroos who delivered 112 passes direct to a team-mate's feet, misplacing just three - an astonishing 97% completion rate.

Combined, the Bayern trident of Schweinsteiger, Lahm and Kroos completed 241 passes, 30 more than the overall total returned by the entire Real Madrid team - 211.

Kroos continually returns extraordinary passing statistics. His passing accuracy average in the Champions League is 95% with 92 passes made for each appearance. In 11 outings (one of which was as a substitute which thus brings down his per game average), he has contributed 19 clear-cut chances, two of which turned into assists.

Valued by transfermarkt.co.uk at £35m, any United intention for a Kroos acquisition may be more wishful thinking than anything based on reality.

Yes, the player's contract expires in little more than one year, but considering his mainstay nature in the Bayern line-up, his ability to control possession in midfield for one of the globe's most elite-level clubs and the esteem he is held in by the management, then a contract renewal in Bavaria is the only logical outcome.
