In the meantime, Reuters reports that JPMorgan's global chairman of investment banking and veteran deal maker James Elliott will retire in June, according to an internal memo seen by the news agency.

Finally, Bloomberg also reports that UBS is hiring HSBC’s William Barter as co-head of its U.K. and Ireland corporate client solutions unit.

He will jointly run the division, which excludes trading businesses, with David James, UBS said in a memo to staff obtained by Bloomberg and confirmed by a spokesman in London.

HSBC said in a memo this week that Barter is leaving the bank after a year as co-head of U.K. banking within its securities unit, and named Natalie Blyth and Alan Thomas as co-heads to replace him.
