Juan Mata believes Ryan Giggs is the man to lead Manchester United

Manchester United got off to a fine start without David Moyes, as Ryan Giggs led the Red Devils to a 4-0 win over Norwich City last night.

United's 2-0 defeat to Everton last weekend proved to be the final straw for Moyes, who was duly sacked on Tuesday morning after just ten months in the job. Whilst it seems that Holland boss Louis van Gaal will take over after the World Cup in Brazil this summer, interim boss Giggs took charge against Norwich on Saturday night.

The 40-year-old received a rapturous reception at Old Trafford in his first game in the dugout, and United's 4-0 victory has some fans hoping that Giggs will be given the job on a full-time basis. One of his finest decisions on the night was to introduce Spanish playmaker Juan Mata in the second half, and the £37.5m summer signing bagged twice to seal the emphatic win.

Mata, who has taken some time to settle in at United since his move from Chelsea earlier this year, moved to praise Giggs after the game, suggesting that there may not be anyone better served to manage the club than the Welshman.

"If we speak about Ryan we speak about a Manchester United person. He was very successful here as a player and now he is leading the team. We are all happy because who is better to do it?" said Mata.

Former Valencia star Mata was brought to the club by Moyes though, and told of how it's been a tough week at the club before thanking Moyes for bringing him to United in the first place.

"It has been a difficult week for us," said Mata. "A change of manager is never good news because it means that you are not doing the things right but today it was very important to win and give the fans what they deserve."

"I will always be grateful to him because he was the one who brought me here and gave me the chance to play for this amazing club. I wish him and his staff the best in the future," he added.

Is Giggs the man to lead United forward?
