News, views and rumours relating to Manchester United in the past 24 hours.

Manchester United will keep Ryan Giggs on board at the club regardless of whether or not the new permanent manager wants him, according to reports. The 40-year-old club veteran will keep his place in the backroom staff, either as assistant manager or otherwise, whomever comes in to replace David Moyes.

Wayne Rooney is ‘worried’ Robin van Persie will be United’s ‘No.1 striker’ should Louis van Gaal be appointed manager this summer. The England No.10 has been in fine form this term and played as the lone striker under David Moyes while the Dutch ace was out injured but could lose his place in the team, according to reports.

Furthermore, the Metro claims that Rooney has ‘asked’ the club not to appoint van Gaal for that reason.

In transfer news, Marco Reus remains ‘coy’ over his future with reports continuing to link the Borussia Dortmund winger with a move to Old Trafford this summer.

Uruguayan striker Edinson Cavani ‘prefers’ a move to United over a switch to Chelsea from Paris Saint-Germain according to reports.

However, Dutch midfielder Kevin Strootman’s agent insists the Roma ace has not had an offer from United.

Fabio Parisi said: "Nothing is true, he's good in the capital."
