Earlier today we brought you the news that Manchester United youngster Andreas Pereira had seemingly turned his back on Belgium by agreeing to play for Brazil at the Panda Cup in China in June.
The attacking midfielder has previously played for Belgium at under-17 level but has mentioned a desire to represent the country of his parents.
He confirmed his call-up earlier today via Twitter, posting on his official account:
Pereira is a highly though of youngster at United - and recently scored a screamer against Liverpool to put his name firmly on the lips of eagle-eyed United supporters.
And his call-up has not gone unnoticed by somebody who will be going with Brazil to a far more illustrious cup in June.
Bayern Munich defender Dante, who was linked with a move to Manchester United back in March (prior to signing a new deal with the Bavarians), is in the Brazil squad for the World Cup this summer and also had a final game of the season to play today.
But it did not stop him from sending a Tweet of congratulations to his countryman:
Congrats @andrinhopereira for being called up for the Brazilian National Team for the first time. You are on the right way!— Dante Bonfim Costa (@dante_bonfim) May 10, 2014
Can Pereira make it to the big time?
