Tottenham Hotspur morning news: Spurs to beat Arsenal to £12m signing, West Brom line up Sherwood as next boss

Loic Remy

A round up of news stories this morning about Tottenham Hotspur.

The Daily Star has claimed that Tottenham will beat local rivals Arsenal to the signing of Loic Remy.

The French forward played on loan at Newcastle United last season and Queens Park Rangers are thought to be keen on doing a permanent deal for him this summer.

Remy bagged 14 goals for Newcastle last season and would be a good addition to the Tottenham attack.

West Brom are being tipped as the next club for current Spurs head coach Tim Sherwood.

The Baggies relieved Pepe Mel of his duties, which leaves them open to go after Sherwood if the rumours he’ll get the sack from Tottenham are accurate.

The Mirror claims West Brom could approach Sherwood over the position by the end of this week.

Sherwood claims that the decision to sell Gareth Bale to Real Madrid is what cost Tottenham a top four place.

Bale linked up with Los Blancos last summer in a world record transfer after he’d been the standout player during the 2012/2013 season.

“How on earth did people think we would be title challengers or make the top four? – To remove a match winner like Gareth Bale out of that squad - we shouldn't have expected it after that,” Sherwood is quoted by the Star.
