Transfer Bin: Yaya Toure linked with Premier League trio

Yaya Toure

Yaya Toure is being linked with potential moves to some of Manchester City's main rivals; Arsenal, Chelsea and Liverpool.

The latest version of our Transfer Bin features the Daily Star and a report which suggests Arsenal, Chelsea and Liverpool are mulling their time over potential swoops for Manchester City midfielder Yaya Toure.

Toure was City’s standout player last season and was voted in some places as the Player of the Year despite official awards going to Liverpool’s Luis Suarez. However, an apparent birthday snub has created the bizarre suggestion that Toure could walk away from the Etihad this summer.

If that happens then it would be a truly remarkable sequence of events and something which would leave Toure’s reputation with the club and City fans in tatters.

Manuel Pellegrini will have something to say in this matter and he’ll most likely apply common sense and a bit of basic logic to the situation if Toure is as annoyed as reports are suggesting.

Toure’s frustration is based around something so trivial that Pellegrini can stress that and ease any concerns Toure has over how valued he is at Manchester City.

One of Pellegrini’s strongest qualities last season was his ability to step back from a situation and not get involved where he didn’t have to. He’s the sort of coach that would look to nip this sort of issue in the bud before it blossomed into something more dangerous.

In terms of Arsenal, Chelsea and Liverpool’s interest there are a couple of obvious and immediate issues.

Firstly, those clubs would be relying on City’s willingness to do business and sell them their best player.

Pellegrini will be wary of how close Chelsea and especially Liverpool got to his team last season and he definitely won’t want to aid either in their domestic and European pursuits.

It’s the same with Arsenal, as the Gunners spent more days at the top of the Premier League last season than any other team.

The City boss will also be fully aware that Manchester United are going to strengthen and already seem to be building some momentum before Louis van Gaal has even stepped into his Old Trafford office.
