Reported Manchester United target Kevin Strootman has posted a special message to teammate Dodo who has been struck by injury again.

Kevin Strootman may currently be recovering from a cruciate ligament injury that saw his debut season at Roma come to a premature end, but that has not stopped him being linked with a £30million move to Manchester United.

The Dutch midfielder was tipped to make the switch to Old Trafford when he was at former club PSV Eindhoven, and again last January, after just a few months in Italy.  And now that his international boss Louis van Gaal has been appointed as United's new manager, the rumours have revved up yet again.

But whatever the future holds - and the suggestion is he will remain in Italy for some time to come - Strootman is not so caught up in his own recovery that he cannot share a special message with a teammate who has just suffered a setback of their own.

Roma defender Dodo reportedly suffered a knee injury during Roma's end-of-season friendly with Orlando City on Friday.  And it has since been confirmed by Football Italia that the initial diagnosis is not good.

The player suffered a cruciate ligament injury in the same knee while at former club Corinthians, and it appears he could be set for another sustained spell on the side-lines.

While the true extent of the injury has not yet been revealed, Strootman posted a message on his Instagram page on Sunday, along with a picture of the two players celebrating for Roma.

'Be strong,' Strootman wrote, before suggesting that Dodo could return even stronger than before.

It is that mentality that will help both players recover from their latest setbacks, and no doubt one of the reasons why United are interested in bringing the outstanding midfielder to the Premier League.

Do you believe Strootman will ever sign for United?
