The retained and released lists for the Premier League were announced on Friday. For Arsenal it was certainly a much calmer day then a year earlier, when they released a whole heap of players. This time around it was just seven players told to find new clubs.
The likes of Chuks Aneke, Nicklas Bendtner and Park Chu-Young certainly stand out among the list - but a word of warning for the Gunners now looking for a new line of employment. Looking through the entire list for every single team and three names stand out, as players released by Arsenal 12 months ago who suffered the same fate again this term.
Firstly to Crystal Palace. Marouane Chamakh was snapped up for free by Crystal Palace a year ago, after his disappointing spell at The Emirates Stadium. He has had a reasonably impressive campaign with the Eagles and Tony Pulis has been a fan of the player since his arrival.
But the Moroccan found himself on the released list at Selhurst Park this week - despite rumours being rife that the club do want to sign him up to a new improved deal.
Then at Hull City you find Conor Henderson on his way. He was released by Arsenal after 12 years at the club last summer and the Republic of Ireland under-21 international joined The Tigers in September last year.
However he has played just once for the club, and the injury prone midfielder is also looking for a new club.
Third and finally you find Jernade Meade. He played for Arsenal in the Champions League back in 2012-13 but was released at the end of the season. Swansea City signed him, but he was always going to struggle to usurp Neil Taylor or Ben Davies from the position for The Swans. He even had a spell on loan at Luton Town which was unsuccessful this season - not playing a single game in the Conference Premier.
He too has been released by Swansea this summer.
Three ex-Arsenal players who find themselves on the released list for the second season in a row. So good luck to Aneke, Boateng, Fagan and co.
What next for Arsenal's released batch this summer?
