FA Cup

Arsenal's FA Cup trophy travelled in luxury last week and, with her tongue in her cheek, one writer wonders where it may have been heading.

The Gunners have waited a long time to get their hands on that elusive trophy, a piece a silverware that has been nine years in the making. Therefore, I suppose it is no surprise they are keen to treasure their FA Cup as if it was, well, treasure.

The FA Cup that now has Arsenal’s name engraved on it for the 2013/14 season travelled First Class with its own cabin and television screen aboard an Emirates aircraft this week.

Staff aboard the plane reported it was offered snacks and beverages but it declined and fell asleep listening to it its iPod until the plane was preparing to land. One passenger has claimed she heard it snoring but that, as yet, has not been confirmed by the club.

Rumours persist that the FA Cup was travelling to Brazil to get an early ticket for a box seat for England’s opening game against Italy on June 14 but other reports have suggested it was in fact flying to New York to get some shopping in for summer wear. Apparently it was seen wearing a yellow ribbon in a department store in Manhattan later that day but sources said it may have just been trying it on.

Where do you think the FA Cup was going?
