The Costa Rican, who will be charged with keeping out England this summer at the World Cup, has been a revelation at the Valencia club and was statistics website WhoScored's goalkeeper of the season - so he has certainly had an exceptional campaign.
And now the 27-year-old, who has recently been linked with Everton, Liverpool and Arsenal, could potentially have a direct influence on the future of a Chelsea goalkeeper.
Atletico Madrid star Courtois has enjoyed three incredible seasons on loan at the Vicente Calderon, but now it is believed Chelsea want him back. It was even reported yesterday that Jose Mourinho is willing to sell Petr Cech to bring the Belgian in as his number one stopper.
The news coming out of Spain today would suggest Atletico are already resigned to losing the young custodian. El Confidencial report that Atletico are readying a €10 million bid for Navas, and are hopeful of signing the player before the World Cup in Brazil. That fee would meet his release clause with Los Granotes and leave the club helpless in hopefully keeping the player for next season.
The fact that Atletico are already eyeing up replacements for Courtois can only be good news for Chelsea. As much of a servant, an excellent servant at that, Cech has been, the club need to look toward the future. Chelsea have perhaps the best goalkeeper in the world on their books in the shape of Courtois and must be willing to give him the first-team football he craves next season at Stamford Bridge.
And with Atletico reportedly readying a replacement, it looks as though that might just be the case.
Should Courtois be Chelsea's number one next season?
