27 days to go until the transfer window opens. Here's the latest...
1) Diego Costa is claimed to have finally told Atletico Madrid he wants to move to Chelsea. The striker's move to the Blues has been touted for weeks, and the only thing holding it up was him still being yet to commit to the move. Spanish newspaper Mundo Deportivo report that Costa has now told the club of his intentions. A deal could yet be formalised this week or early next ahead of the World Cup. Chelsea are also said to be closing on his teammate Filipe Luis, with Atletico lining up Guilherme Siqueira from Benfica to replace the full-back.
2) Manchester United have a decision to make regarding Luke Shaw. After Southampton stated yesterday they would not be selling any more players ahead of the World Cup, the Mail present a twist on the story. They claim the Saints have told United they will be willing to negotiate a swap deal with Javier Hernandez. If Southampton dig in regarding this stance it will leave Louis van Gaal having to decide whether his left-back of the future is more important than United's fourth choice striker.
3) Fulham veteran Brede Hangeland has been released after seven seasons at the club. The Norwegian centre-back is however being tipped to bounce straight back into the Premier League, with The Mail stating Tony Pulis' Crystal Palace are expressing an interest.
4) Arsenal have their eye on a Colombian transfer target, but not Jackson Martinez. The Metro report they are interested in goalkeeper David Ospina, to back-up Wojciech Szczesny. The 25-year-old plays for Ligue 1 side Nice, and the Gunners are said to be waiting on his performances at the World Cup until deciding whether to push ahead with a deal.
