Can Manchester City star outshine Messi in Brazil?

Aguero and Messi Argentina

Lionel Messi is expected to star for Argentina at the World Cup, but Sergio Aguero could just steal the show.

As Argentina arrive in Brazil ahead of the World Cup, fans will be eager to see the famous faces of their impressive squad.

Argentina have been blessed with an attacking force that oozes class and have players such as Angel di Maria, Gonzalo Higuain, Rodrigo Palacio, Ezequiel Lavezzi, Sergio Aguero and four-time Ballon d'Or winner Lionel Messi.

Messi is expected to star for the 1986 World Cup winners in Brazil, but a certain Sergio Aguero could just steal the limelight.

While both forwards have similar qualities, the duo are very different in their positions and style of play.

Manchester City star Aguero is an out-and-out striker who thrives on playing just off the shoulder of the last defender, while Messi is a player who is happy to drop deeper, pick up the ball and run with it.

Aguero, son-in-law of Argentine legend Diego Maradona, will relish the chance to play alongside Barcelona's Messi. With Messi deployed just off of the striker, don't be surprised if Aguero sees more of the goal than the 26-year-old.

Aguero has the perfect build for a striker of his quality. Small, docile, agile and powerful, he possesses all the right characteristics to become Argentina's star player in Brazil.

The former Atletico Madrid striker has proved that he can score at the highest level. Last season, in spite of injuries, Aguero notched up nearly a goal a game in the Premier League.

If Aguero can utilise Messi's impressive link-up play, then the 26-year-old could find himself on the way to lifting not only the World Cup, but also the Golden Boot

Messi has struggled to match his immaculate club form with performances for his country. One argument could be that there is too much firepower to share between the strikers and players like Aguero are seeing more success than him.

Neverthless, Argentina fans must be excited at the prospect of this fine attacking artillery coming up against any back-four. As for Aguero, he must feel confident of being Argentina's main threat.
