Stoke City goalkeeper Asmir Begovic is confident in his side's quality as Bosnia and Herzegovina gear up to face Argentina in their World Cup opener.

The clash features the two favourites to progress from Group F, which also contains Nigeria and Iran.

Argentina are likely to go far in this World Cup, but Begovic is upbeat about Bosnia's chances against the South American powerhouse.

"I think the whole squad feels excited to play at a World Cup and represent our country," the 26-year-old said. "Obviously it's a huge test for us playing Argentina in the first game but it's a game that we couldn't have written any better."

"If we wanted to we couldn't pick a better opponent and a better place to start our World Cup adventure. We believe in the quality of our team, I think we have we have good players throughout the whole squad and we're looking forward to giving Argentina a big test."

Begovic is one of a few big names in the Bosnia and Herzegovina squad who could make a big difference against the Argentines.

Manchester City striker Edin Dzeko is well known among Premier League fans, and alongside him they have a genuine goal threat in Stuttgart forward Vedad Ibisevic.

Miralem Pjanic is the star man for Bosnia and Herzegovina. The playmaker has been excellent all season for Roma, and his ability to pull the strings in midfield will almost certainly dictate how far the Balkan side progress in this tournament.

Their first game kicks off at 11pm GMT at the Maracano in Rio de Janeiro.
