All the latest news coming from the Spanish capital, including Arsenal and Manchester United linked stars.

Following Italy’s early World Cup exit, Cesare Prandelli has decided to call it a day with Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti named as the Azzurri’s number target to replace him.

According to El Confidencial, the Italian FA along with president Giancarlo Abete see the former Milan boss as the ideal man for the job and an online poll suggested that the Italian public are in agreement as Ancelotti acclaimed a whopping 84% of the votes – with Roberto Mancini and Luciano Spalleti other candidates.

The Real Madrid boss, however, is said to have cited Manchester United’s new boss Van Gaal as proof that no coach could possibly do both jobs and he is ready to pledge his allegiance to the recent Champions League winners with a new contract.

In other news, Ancelotti is keen for the club to keep hold of Arsenal and Monaco linked midfielder Angel Di Maria, though club president Florentino Perez has hinted that his price €50 million.

The Argentine international had a superb campaign last season, topping the La Liga assist charts with an incredible 17 in just 27 starts.

Whilst it’s hard to see Di Maria leaving the Santiago Bernabeu this summer, many felt the same regarding Mesut Ozil before the German international ended up at the Gunners in a record-breaking deal.

Should Di Maria leave, Dutch international Memphis Depay has been sounded out as a possible replacement, though Los Blancos may have competition in the form of Man United.

Elsewhere at Real Madrid, the future of Arsenal and United linked Sami Khedira remains increasingly uncertain, according to the newspaper Marca.

The German international has been heavily linked with a move away from the club after reports emerged that Madrid were keen on signing fellow midfielders Toni Kroos and Marco Verratti.

With Khedira’s contract running out in 2015, a decision is expected to be made after the World Cup, though a sufficient bid from either Premier League club could see the club make their final decision sooner.

Should Arsenal or Man United make a bid for Sami Khedira this summer?
