Bayern give Arsenal, Chelsea mid-July deadline over Mandzukic?

Bayern Munich are reportedly eager to do business over Mario Mandzukic sooner, rather than later.

With Croatia's brace of 3-1 losses in the FIFA World Cup tournament, a group stage elimination was inevitable.

For the players, such as leading front-man Mario Mandzukic, a return to club-level football could begin as early as the middle of July, leaving the athletes with just a handful of weeks holiday prior to beginning pre-season preparations for the campaigns ahead.

Mandzukic, 28, was responsible for two of Croatia's goals in their 4-0 hammering of Cameroon but despite the striker's prowess in front of goal, the introduction of Robert Lewandowski has led to intense speculation that he is surplus to requirements.

In the past month, there have been no shortage of reported admirers, with Arsenal and Chelsea the most frequently mentioned interested Premier League parties.

As of yet, there has been no official approach - something that could perhaps be the catalyst for an apparent deadline of offers, which Bayern have set for mid-July, before pre-season begins for the Allianz Arena outfit.

A report in Bild said today, Thursday: "A decision must be made by mid-July because the striker will return to training at Bayern after the holidays."

Juventus and AC Milan are also listed as possible destinations for the £26.4 million rated forward.
