GTA 5 Gets Terminator 2 Treatment

GTAV Terminator

YouTube video makers Legendary gaming have recreated the iconic chase scene from Terminator 2 using GTA V.

Even to hardcore GTA fans out there, it can get a bit monotonous sitting in your apartment drinking away and deciding where your next cruise in your Gauntlet Muscle car will be to.

However, the guys over at Legendary Gaming decided to put the game to another use, the art of film making by recreating the iconic chase scene where the T-1000 chases the young John Connor through L.A in Terminator 2.

We got in touch with John Chapman from Legendary Gaming who was kind enough to answer some of HITC Gaming's questions regarding the making of the video. (if you want to go straight to the video, go down to the bottom of the page)

HITC Gaming

Thanks for taking the time to talk to us today. Why and how did you come up with the idea to recreate the Iconic truck scene from Terminator 2?

JC (Legendary)

Hey, no problem. I was playing GTA 5 online with a couple of friends one day when I brought up we should do a remake.

I believe at the time it was a joke and the first thing I mentioned was Dumb & Dumber because of the scooter that's in the game. Regarding the exact details as to how T-2 came about, I can't remember.

HITC Gaming

How difficult was it getting all your friends on-line at the same time to create this?

JC (Legendary)

It took forever for me to get them on, though I will say compared to the remake we are working on now it was an easy task.

HITC Gaming

How many hours do you think you guys racked up of GTA time just trying to create this video?

JC (Legendary)

(Laughs) it must of been at least 10 total hours between setting up, the blooper real and many takes, and then getting back on to capture some of the minor details that we missed before.

HITC Gaming

Who was in charge of organizing the footage for the edit? And I bet they loved it or had you guy's worked out a process that made this slightly easier to bare?

JC (Legendary)

As far as the planning and editing goes, I was responsible for everything. I came up with the idea, organized the meeting times, came up with the camera angles, and did all the editing myself. I will say that I couldn't of done it without my friends; they were there when I asked them to do the stuff and put up with me when I got annoyed when it wasn't going right.

HITC Gaming

I suppose being involved with this video; you guys must be huge fans of the movie, like I am. In order to take on what seems like a mammoth task?

JC (Legendary)

Oh myself, I am a huge fan of the movie. I'm actually in the pursuit of being in the film industry. I am a fan of an extreme amount of movies.

This first remake was fun, we had a good time. But after it became so successful and people were asking for more, so its now time for us to step it up and bring more quality to the production.

HITC Gaming

Is there another works in the process? Or are you taking requests? As I for one will be keeping an eye out for it, and will you all be changing your online characters, to get into character?

JC (Legendary)

We are actually working on two projects. A short term and long term one. The long term of course requires much, MUCH more detail and many more people, so it's on the back burner. The short term one will require everyone to change and get into character in which we have already done because we have been working on it now.

We are always taking requests and keeping note as to what are the most requested remakes.

HITC Gaming

I’m on GTA online; maybe I could see the making of the next one?

JC (Legendary)

You maybe could see the remake. Of course we would have to come to some agreement where you'd agree to not share what we are actually working on though. I like keeping people in suspense as to what’s coming next.

HITC Gaming

Did many online players who were not apart of it interrupt the film making process?

JC (Legendary)

(Laughs) nobody interrupted because we were in a private match. I knew that would happen and couldn't risk it.

HITC Gaming

Last question. Will you be getting the next gen version of GTA V?

JC (Legendary)

I will absolutely be getting the next gen GTAV. Of course I knew Rockstar would pull a move like this and wait until their sales dipped enough to announce all of a sudden they would be releasing it for next gen. I also want to get as many remakes out as I can before it comes out for the PC. You know it's pretty much a walk in the park to make a remake on such a big game on the computer. So it's a million times less impressive and need to get as many out as I can so people can appreciate the time and patience this all requires.

HITC Gaming

John, thank you ever so much for your time and sharing your amazing remake. We look forward to seeing what you and the guys come up with next.

JC (Legendary)

Thank you for showing the interest, Thanks again.
