Arsenal midfielder Mikel Arteta admits that winning the Premier League title next season will not be easy.

Arsenal have not won the Premier League title since 2004, and they will find it tough to do so next season.

That’s according to midfielder Mikel Arteta, who admits that, with the squad improvements that other teams are making, it will be ‘ever harder’ in the 2014-15 campaign.

‘It was a big relief [to end the trophy drought], especially for the ones who have been at the club longer’,the 32-year-old told Goal.com.

‘But the approach will again be to try and put in the maximum effort. It’s going to be a very demanding Premier League, everyone is improving their squads so it’s going to be even harder’.

Last season, Arsene Wenger’s side won their first major silverware since 2005 as they came from behind to defeat Hull City 3-2 in extra time in the FA Cup final at London’s Wembley Stadium.

Having signed Chile international forward Alexis Sanchez from Barcelona and with a few more additions expected this summer, the North London club will be looking to once again challenge for the league title.

However, things are not going to be easy as the 2014-15 title race promises to be the most competitive in history.

Reigning champions Manchester City already have a strong team and have recruited Bacary Sagna, Fernando and Willy Caballero so far.

The Citizens’ city-rivals Manchester United, who finished seventh last season, have a new manager in Louis van Gaal and two new players in Ander Herrera and Luke Shaw.

Liverpool have lost their best player Luis Suarez, but they have signed Rickie Lambert, Adam Lallana and Emre Can, and are likely to add more.

Jose Mourinho failed to lead Chelsea to any major silverware last season, but having recruited Cesc Fabregas and Diego Costa, the Portuguese manager will be determined to reclaim the title.

Arsenal will once again start as one of the challengers for the Premier League, but as Arteta admits, it will be far from easy winning it.
