Vidal future in Juve's hands - admits he 'could stay for rest of life'

Arturo Vidal

The Juventus midfielder displayed his attachment to his present club when questioned on a possible move abroad.

Heavily linked to Manchester United this summer, Juventus's Chilean midfielder Arturo Vidal has been treading water between admitting he has heard of interest in a move, and suggesting he may well end up staying at the Italian champions for the rest of his career.

Clearly eager to speak to new Juve boss Massimiliano Allegri before he makes any decisions on his future, the 27-year-old has nevertheless emphasised that he would be very much willing to stay in Turin.

“I have run out champions three times here, I have respect for my teammates," Vidal told La Cuarta.

“It’s difficult to talk about another team when you already play for a big one.

“Perhaps I will stay the rest of my life at Juventus. When I arrive in Italy, I’ll talk with the coach and we’ll see what happens.

“Right now the only thing I know is that I have seven or eight days of holiday left.”

His comments seem to imply that his future lies solely in the hands of the Turin-based club. Having won Serie A three years on the trot, there is little doubt that Juve are the dominant force in Italy, and despite having an ageing Pirlo in their ranks, the box-to-box skills of both Vidal and youngster Paul Pogba are almost unparalleled in Europe.

Regardless of their success, and in particular the impressive midfield Juve exhibited last season, both Vidal and Pogba continue to get heavily linked with departures from the club.

It may well depend on whether the Old Lady intend to build on that success, which will surely then include a sustained push for European silverware once more, in which case they will be loathe to sell their top stars, or  are willing to cash in on the huge £30-50 million fees that are being banded about for Vidal and Pogba, given the current financial issues in Serie A.

Certainly Juve fans would prefer the former, as the prospect of losing Pogba or Vidal, with the Chilean having become one of the top midfielders in world football while in Turin, would a huge blow.

Do you think Vidal will end up at Old Trafford?
