Manchester City join race with Liverpool for Real Madrid star - report

Isco

Manchester City could yet delve into the transfer market more this summer.

Manchester City have become the latest club to be linked with the services of Isco from Real Madrid, with the Daily Mail claiming the Premier League Champions are interested in the 22-year-old.

If the rumours are true, it could see a reunion between Isco and his former manager Manuel Pellegrini, after the pair worked together during their time at Spanish outfit Malaga.

Isco is understood to be available either on loan or permanently as the imminent arrival of James Rodriguez in Madrid is sure to limit his playing time over the coming season. In addition to Rodriguez, Real also signed Toni Kroos last week, and have the nifty Luka Modric also vying for Isco’s position.

The young Spaniard was touted as one of the best young prospects in world football a year ago, and even had a decent first season at the European Champions, netting eleven-times and assisting eight goals.

But the influx of signings at The Bernabéu has left his future in doubt, with a loan move possible, but more likely a sale being wanted by Madrid to gain some of the money back that was spent on Kroos and Rodriguez.

Similarly to the way Mesut Ozil was sold to Arsenal last summer after the arrival of Gareth Bale, it looks as if Isco's sale could see some return for this year’s investments. Angel Di Maria and Sami Khedira have also been linked with moves away, while Alvaro Morata has already completed a move to Juventus.

Manchester City in Yaya Toure, Fernandinho, Javi Garcia and new signing Fernando, boast plenty of depth of defensively minded midfielders. But with only Silva and Nasri as regular, more attacking players, Isco could potentially bag more game time at the Etihad than at Real Madrid this season.

Would Isco slot in better at either Manchester City or Liverpool?
