Serie A transfer latest: Juventus join the race for Liverpool-linked Bayern winger

Xherdan Shaqiri

All the latest summer transfer news from Serie A...

Juventus completed the signing of Real Madrid striker Alvaro Morata in a €20m deal, with new manager Massimiliano Allegri strengthening his attack. They may have missed out on the signature of Verona winger Juan Iturbe as the Argentine chose to sign for Roma instead, leaving Juve searching for a new winger.

Speculation in Italy today suggests that the Turin giants will look to snap up Bayern Munich's Swiss star Xherdan Shaqiri. The 22-year-old has recently attracted interest from Liverpool, and having been behind the likes of Thomas Muller, Franck Ribery and Arjen Robben in the Bayern pecking order, the former FC Basel man seems destined to leave the club this summer, and Juve are hoping to be the ones to take him to Italy.

Roma's signature of the aforementioned Iturbe means that Rudi Garcia is likely to line up with a front three of Gervinho, Francesco Totti and Iturbe, which as brought the future of Mattia Destro in to question. The 23-year-old striker hit 12 goals in just 14 starts last season, but has been linked with a move away after the arrival of Iturbe - only for his agent Renzo Contratto to say he won't be leaving.

“Destro is not for sale,” he said. “I will keep repeating that. Destro does not want to leave Roma, and they do not want to let him go. Mattia can’t wait to start the season and play in the Champions League. It’s obvious that he’s a great young striker and could be of interest to many clubs, but he won’t be leaving Roma.”

Elsewhere, the arrival of Yann M'Vila at Inter Milan has created a logjam in central midfield, which could leave Algerian Saphir Taider out in the cold. The 22-year-old only arrived from Bologna last summer, but with the likes of Fredy Guarin, Hernanes and Mateo Kovacic all vying for places, he could be allowed to leave the San Siro - and reports suggest that West Ham United are closing in on a deal which will see Taider arrive on a season-long loan.
