Taito’s seminal arcade shoot em up will be coming to the silver screen

As reported by The Wrap Warner Bros have acquired the rights to make a film based on the 1970s arcade hit Space Invaders.

Akiva Goldsman who has previously written the screenplays for The Da Vinci Code, I Am Legend and Batman & Robin has been named as a producer along with Joby Harold (writer/director of Awake) and Tory Tunnell (producer of Holy Rollers)

As yet no further cast and crew information is known or anything of the Space Invaders plot line.

Space Invaders joins a flourishing group of games being made into movies as Hollywood seeks to tap into gaming nostalgia. Recently we’ve heard about films being made of Thief, Metal Gear Solid, Minecraft and Uncharted.
