Survey shows 50% rise in intent to buy a Wii U following E3

Intent to purchase a Wii U equals that of the Xbox One following Nintendo’s E3 digital presentation.

A survey carried out by IHS on behalf of Gamer Network asked around 1.000 gamers what consoles and games they were thinking about buying before and after this years E3 gaming expo.

The results show that Wii U enjoyed a considerable boost following Nintendo’s E3 presence. Twenty per cent of those that took part were inspired to buy a Wii U after the event equalling those aspiring to own an Xbox One. This represents a 50% rise in Wii U interest

Interestingly PS4 although leading the field of purchasing intentions before and after E3 saw a drop in interest to below 30%.

Xbox One intent to buy rose by 7%

In terms of the games shown at E3 Zelda on the Wii U made the biggest impact with 89% of Wii U owners who took part intending to purchase the game. Halo 5 Guardians was the most anticipated game on Xbox One with 77% wishing to buy it and Uncharted 4 had 76% of PS4 gamers excited.

Of the cross platform games shown at E3 Batman: Arkham Knight came out tops with 60% of participants in the survey saying they’ll be buying it.
