Stoke City have brought in a former Barcelona wonder-kid, but what are the numbers behind his career so far?

Stoke City have completed the signing of Barcelona player Bojan Krkic on a four-year-deal.

The 23-year-old was hailed as the next big thing at the Catalan club after making his debut as a 16-year-old. But things did not go according to plan and after two spells at the La Liga side, along with a move to AS Roma and loan stints at both AC Milan and Ajax, the player has now found his way to the Premier League.

In the latest in our series on the numbers behind a player’s career to date, we take a closer look at Stoke’s latest signing.

13 – The number of trophies Bojan has won in his career to date. An outstanding record for one so young, the player has already played a part in three La Liga title triumphs, three Spanish Super Cups, two UEFA Super Cups, two Champions League wins, one Dutch league title, one FIFA Club World Cup and one Under-17 European Championship.

259 – The number of club appearances Bojan has made so far. That includes 163 games for Barcelona, 37 for Roma, 32 for Ajax and 27 for AC Milan.

56 – The number of goals Bojan has scored in his club career. He netted 41 times for Barcelona, and also scored seven times for Roma, five times for Ajax and three times for Milan.

27 – The number of assists he has to date. He laid on 17 goals for the Spanish side, four during his time in Italy and six while in Holland.

19 – The number of yellow cards he has in club football. Considering the number of games he has played, Stoke’s new arrival has an excellent disciplinary record.

1 – The number of times he has been sent off in his career. Boajn’s one and only dismissal came against Fiorentina in 2011.

1 – Despite his prodigious talent and early reputation, Bojan has just one senior cap for the Spanish national side. He has also featured 21 times for their under-21s and 20 times for their under-17s.

Verdict – Mark Hughes has signed a player with excellent technical ability and a medal collection the envy of most in the game. However, the big question is whether Bojan will use his move to Stoke to reignite a career that has failed to live up to the heady heights of his initial games.

If Bojan embraces this chance he could go down as a Stoke legend, and alongside fellow new signing Mame Biram Diouf he could help form an excellent attacking partnership.

Anyone who scored nearly 50 goals for Barcelona before the age of 24 is obviously talented. And in the Premier League, under former Barca man Hughes, he could excel.
