New Spurs signing Ben Davies praises Swansea's support on Twitter

New Tottenham Hotspur left-back Ben Davies thanked Swansea City for the years of support he received, after sealing a protracted move to White Hart Lane.

Following his move to Tottenham Hotspur, Ben Davies has taken to Twitter to thank his former side Swansea City for the 12 years he spent on the club’s books.

Having come through the youth ranks, the 21-year-old made his first-team debut for the Swans in August 2012, establishing himself as a regular in the side during his debut campaign.

Going on to make 71 Premier League appearances for the club over the last two seasons, Tottenham have been locked in negotiations for Davies over several weeks, beating off interest from Liverpool for his signature, with the left-back even training with the club in Toronto on their North American tour this week, in anticipation of a deal being done.

Signing a five-year deal at White Hart Lane, with midfielder Gylfi Sigurdsson going in the opposite direction in a swap deal, the Welsh international also sees teammate Michel Vorm join him in North London, having moved for £2 million to be first-choice goalkeeper Hugo Loris’s backup.

With the Swansea pair tied up, Tottenham could now turn their attention to Southampton’s £18 million-rated midfielder Morgan Schneiderlin, who is said to favour a move to Mauricio Pochettino’s side over joining rivals Arsenal.

Looking to improve upon last season’s sixth-place Premier League finish under the new boss, a striker is also likely on the agenda, with yet another Swansea standout, Wilfried Bony, linked to the club over recent weeks, although a reported £20 million-plus asking price could prove a potential stumbling block.
