The ex Athletico Madrid star played for the Blues for the first time on Wednesday night.

As the only one of Chelsea's three first team signings from Spain that didn't feature in the World Cup in Brazil this summer, Filipe Luis has managed to get in ahead of Diego Costa and Cesc Fabregas in making his debut for the Blues.

And though the 1-1 result against Austrian side RZ Pellets wasn't the desired one, the Brazilian was delighted to make his debut, tweeting his joy at wearing the Chelsea shirt for the first time.

Luis played for an hour in Austria, before being replaced by youngster Nathan Ake. There was little threat for the 28-year-old to deal with, but he did well whenever he needed to. Fellow new boy Kurt Zouma also played having already featured in the club's previous friendlies.

Chelsea were on the cusp of an upset in the most controversial of circumstance, with Pellets' opener in the 55th minute being deemed to have crossed the line despite some protestation from the Blues players.

As it turned out Jeremie Boga scored a last gasp leveller for Jose Mourinho's side, with the 17-year-old Frenchman shooting home after playing a fantastic one-two with Branislav Ivanovic that began with the youngster in his own half.

How good a signing is Filipe Luis?
