Lucky Manchester United fans get new home shirt less than half price

Manchester United 3

A number of Manchester United fans have saved over 50% on the club's new kit after a website glitch.

More than 4,000 United fans couldn't believe their luck when they saw that their beloved club's brand new strip was available online at just £22, instead of the usual £55.

Both the red home and white away kit, now sponsored by American car manufacturer Chevrolet, were accidentally discounted on United Direct, the club's official online store.

Fans could even get a full kit that includes shorts and socks, usually priced at £92, for just £37 which is a saving of £55 in total!

The pricing error happened during United's first pre-season friendly against LA Galaxy, which they won 7-0. According to Twitter even the price of items such as Nike football boots was slashed in two.

The Sun reported that around 4,000 supporters managed to bag the deal, which has reportedly cost The Red Devils an estimated £200,000 in lost revenue.

Fortunately for the lucky 4,000 United have shown very good will and announced they will be honouring the discounted price.

A club spokesman released this statement to the Manchester Evening News: "United Direct, the Club's Official Online Megastore, which is run by our commerce partner Kitbad, sent our communications which contained details of an erroneous discount code to our fans around the globe - this offer has now ended.

"United Direct will honour all consumer order placed with this discount code, an approach that is fully endorsed by the club."
