VIDEO: Former Chelsea target Lewandowski scores wonder goal for Bayern

Robert Lewandowski

The former Borussia Dortmund striker netted a sensational strike for new club Bayern Munich in their Telekom Cup friendly match.

Robert Lewandowski has long been the Bundesliga's most effective goal machine, but even fans of the German top flight will be astounded by his outrageous friendly goal against Borussia Monchengladbach.

Receiving the ball under pressure in the area, Lewandowski performed a couple of drag backs to open the space to shoot, but instead of just smashing the ball home, the Poland international flicked the ball over goalkeeper Janis Blaswich who was off his line, dropping it over the line before anyone could get back to clear. What made the goal all the more amazing was that four Monchengladbach defenders were swarming around him while this was happening.

Lewandowski scored 94 goals in 142 goals in his last three seasons in Dortmund, a return that convinced Bayern Munich to make him their main man this season. In all honesty, it wouldn't have been a difficult decision, considering they were able to sign him on a free transfer.

The Polish striker was linked with a whole host of English clubs last season, as he looked to leave Borussia Dortmund, though it was no surprise at all when Bayern Munich announced that they would be signing the forward after another goal laden season in the Bundesliga.

Chelsea, Manchester United and Arsenal were just three of the sides said to be looking into signing the 25-year-old, and given his outstanding goal against German rivals Monchengladbach, they may have wished they would have done more to talk him into a switch to the Premier League.
