Arsenal fans react on Twitter to Ospina signing - "Perfect competition!"

Emirates Inside

Arsenal have today wrapped up the signing of Colombian goalkeeper David Ospina in a £3.2m deal from French side Nice.

The Gunners finally ended their nine year trophy drought with their 3-2 FA Cup final win over Hull City in May, and the club have looked to prolong the positivity around the club with some work in the transfer market. Barcelona forward Alexis Sanchez completed a blockbuster £32m deal earlier this summer, before Newcastle United full back Mathieu Debuchy arrived to replace Bacary Sagna.

Now manager Arsene Wenger has made his third signing with the arrival of Ospina. The 25-year-old starred for Colombia at the World Cup in Brazil earlier this summer, and arrives at the Emirates Stadium to offer top quality competition for current Gunners stopper Wojciech Szczesny.

After the departures of Lukasz Fabianski and loan failure Emiliano Viviano, bringing in another goalkeeper was a priority for Wenger. Snapping up someone like Ospina - who could certainly start ahead of Szczesny this season - is a wise move, and fans on Twitter were quick to praise the deal, suggesting that Wenger had learned his lesson from a year ago when Arsenal were too slow to make moves in the transfer market.

Some fans do believe that Ospina could push Szczesny hard for the No. 1 jersey, with his impressive World Cup displays forming the basis of those beliefs.
