Arsenal transfer news: Wenger on Ospina; Khedira lowers wage demands

All the latest transfer news and gossip from The Emirates Stadium this morning.

If you missed the news yesterday it looks as though Arsenal have finally solved their goalkeeping problem this weekend, with Colombia goalkeeper David Ospina set to be officially unveiled on Monday.

It comes after his current club manager Claude Puel, speaking to reporters after Nice lost to Brentford at Griffin Park, confirmed the 25-year-old was London bound yesterday.

Puel stated:

"It's confirmed, yes. It's a good affair for Arsenal because he's a very good player."

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger was asked about Ospina after the loss to New York Red Bulls yesterday, questions to which he remained typically coy - despite revealing his interest in the player earlier in the week. He also revealed his respect for Ospina for replacing Tottenham goalkeeper Hugo Lloris at Nice:

"I've known him for a long time because he played for Nice and he went there a few years ago and slowly became a very important player for them. Hugo Lloris played for Nice before he moved to Lyon and after he moved they played Ospina. He had a big impact straight away and Lloris was not an easy player to replace. I felt that he did very well at the World Cup."

Arsenal may still be in the hunt for Real Madrid midfielder Sami Khedira - after reports claim the Germany World Cup star has dropped his inflated wage demands.

The arrival of countryman Toni Kroos has put Khedira's place at Madrid under serious threat and he has long been linked with The Gunners.

He is also good friends with Lukas Podolski and Mesut Ozil - so it is a move that obviously has credence.

It is now being reported that Khedira is willing to drop his wages from the £150k-a-week he reportedly wanted at the start of the summer to a more manageable £135k-a-week, in a bid to push through a potential deal.

Arsenal are keen on bringing in another midfielder - but Morgan Schneiderlin and Lars Bender also remain options.
