Liverpool’s pre-season tour of America is in full swing with last week’s friendly against AS Roma already on the books.
The Reds came out on the wrong end of a 1-0 scoreline against the Giallorossi in their curtain-raiser in Boston, but boss Brendan Rodgers certainly isn’t dwelling on the result.
“My expectancy this season is to win a trophy,” the Northern Irishman told a press conference on Saturday.
“The most important thing for me as a coach is continuous improvement and it is very important on the back of a good season that we can go and push on again.”
Liverpool’s next test moving on in their formative USA exhibition circuit comes in the form of Greek title-holders Olympiacos, marking the beginning of the participation in the Guiness International Champions Cup tournament.
On Sunday the Merseysiders will take on Michel’s men at Soldier Field, with the side gearing up for the contest by holding open training at the famed Chicago ground.
The relatively light session in anticipation of the Olympiacos clash gave way to mingling with the assembled fans after just over an hour of work on the pitch.
Rodgers, Steven Gerrard, Daniel Sturridge and Simon Mignolet showed their gratitude to supporters across the pond who took to the Soldier Field stands on a sweltering evening by jovially snapping photos and signing autographs.
