Jack Robinson has been speaking about the possibility of breaking into Liverpool's first-team.

Liverpool defender Jack Robinson has been speaking on the club’s pre-season tour the USA, revealing his hopes for the future and his thoughts on last season’s loan spell.

Robinson spent the last campaign at Championship side Blackpool, where he made 36 appearances in total.

Now back with Liverpool, he spoke to the club’s official website about that spell and the player whose path into the first-team he hopes to follow.

“It has given me a lot of experience being in that league,” Robinson said of his time in the second-tier. “It makes you grow up more. You had to wash your own kit at Blackpool and you don’t get that treatment here.

“But no, joking aside, it makes you more mature as a player on the pitch. You’ve got to take things into your own hands.”

With questions over the left-back spot at Liverpool, could Robinson be the answer for Brendan Rodgers?

After all, a number of alternative options have been linked with Liverpool only for them to remain where they are or move elsewhere.

He may only be 20, but youth did not stop the likes of Raheem Sterling and Jon Flanagan and it is the latter who Robinson hopes to emulate.

“Look at Flanno and the way his season changed in a few months,” Robinson said. “It gives you hope to know that if you do the right things then you can maybe follow in his footsteps.”

Only time will tell, but Robinson is saying all the right things, and he is lucky that his position is the one area of the pitch that Liverpool are currently lacking in quality.

Do you think Robinson is ready for a a stint in the Liverpool first-team?
