Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere has sent a gracious Instagram message to the travelling support in the USA.

Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere was keen to praise the travelling fans who made their way to New Jersey to watch his team in action.

The 22-year-old’s attitude has been questioned in the press in recent weeks, with photos reported by The Mirror emerging of the England international smoking and drinking whilst on vacation in Las Vegas.

His loyalty to the club and its fans, however, has never been in question and he was quick to praise those who watched Arsenal take on the New York Red Bulls in New Jersey.

“Thanks to all our fans from the USA who made our trip so special...until next time, thanks and Goodbye!” He wrote on his official Instagram page.

The Gunners left for the US to play in a high-profile friendly match against former player Thierry Henry’s New York Red Bulls in the impressive Red Bull Arena.

More than 25,000 fans entered the stadium with many coming from all over the US to watch the North Londoners in action as they were downed 1-0 by their hosts – former Manchester City youngster Bradley Wright-Phillips grabbing the only goal of the game in the 33rd minute.

It was a mixture of first-team players such as Wilshere, Ramsey and Cazorla and youngsters including 19-year-old Isaac Hayden who started the game for the visitors and the final whistle was met by an almost non-recognisable Arsenal XI.

Nonetheless, it was a worthwhile evening for Arsenal and their growing support in the US and boss Arsene Wenger will be pleased heading back to the Emirates with a number of his players nearing full-match fitness.
