La Liga transfer latest: Deportivo eye Spain loan return for Liverpool youngster

Tiago Ilori

All the latest summer transfer news from La Liga...

Barcelona have undergone a huge transformation this summer. Firstly, manager Gerardo Martino was replaced by Celta Vigo's former Barca midfielder Luis Enrique, and he has overseen an overhaul of the playing staff at the Camp Nou. The likes of Victor Valdes, Pinto, Carles Puyol, Jonathan dos Santos, Bojan Krkic, Isaac Cuenca and Alexis Sanchez have all left the club - and there could be another big departure to come.

Right back Dani Alves has been a mainstay of the Barca side ever since his £23m move from Sevilla in 2008. Now 31, Alves has noticeably slowed down, and Enrique is reportedly aware of this. Reports suggest that Barca want Alves to leave in a similar way to David Villa a year ago, where a cut-price transfer fee would be accepted in order to get his wages off the books.

The Catalan giants finished second in La Liga last season, as Atletico Madrid clinched their first title in almost 20 years. However, manager Diego Simeone has seen his team dismantled, with Thibaut Courtois, Filipe Luis and Diego Costa all heading to Chelsea, whilst David Villa and Adrian were also allowed to leave the club this summer.

Now Simeone is ramping up his recruitment drive, despite having already signed Jan Oblak, Guilherme Siqueira and Mario Mandzukic. Real Sociedad's Antoine Griezmann has signed for the club in a whopping €30m deal, whilst Zenit St. Petersburg full back Cristian Ansaldi has arrived to provide competition for Siqueira at left back.

Elsewhere, promoted Deportivo La Coruna have already landed the aforementioned Cuenca amongst others, but now the Galician outfit are looking to strengthen their defence. The top target for Depor is Liverpool youngster Tiago Ilori, who spend the second half of last season in La Liga with Granada on loan.

Depor are trying to tempt the Portuguese Under-21 international back to Spain on loan again, with Dejan Lovren's arrival at Anfield giving them hope of tying up a deal.
