Manchester United have 8 day deadline to sign Arturo Vidal - report

Arturo Vidal

Manchester United may be racing against the clock to sign Arturo Vidal.

Manchester United are working around an even tighter deadline than first thought regarding the signature of Arturo Vidal, report Sky Italia.

The Chilean international is widely reported as a top target for the Red Devils, while Juventus are keen to hang onto him for as long as Vidal is 'happy' at the club.

Vidal has left the ball in United's court, not rocking the boat at Juventus but also leaving the door open to Louis van Gaal's side.

Sky Italia report that United have a deadline of August 6, when Juventus play their first friendly of their pre-season tour of the Asia and Pacific region, in Indonesia.

That is in nine days time, but considering Vidal and co will fly out from Italy at least one day before, that can be brought forward.

The broadcaster cite the date as a possible 'point of no return' for Vidal, for if he flies out halfway across the world, will be setting into motion preparations to stay in Turin for the forthcoming season.

Vidal would in doing so, re-connect with his teammates and fans of Juventus from around the globe, and may mentally find it tougher to tear himself away from the Italian champions.

Passing the date also leaves Juventus with less time to sign a replacement for the Chilean, and it makes sense for both parties to, if a deal can be done, close it before the tour, so not to mess Vidal about.

The ultimate cut-off will be transfer deadline day on September 1, but allowing it to reach the middle of next week and have Vidal fly out to Asia, will make it that much harder to pull off.
