Manchester United transfer target Juan Cuadrado will cost €50 million, claim Fiorentina.

Manchester United will have to pay €50 million to prise Juan Cuadrado from Fiorentina.

The Mail reported on Monday that the Red Devils were to make a £30 million offer for the star, also of interest to Barcelona.

That works out €12 million short of Fiorentina's asking price, which the club's sporting director Daniele Prade revealed yesterday.

He told Italian newspaper Corriere dello Sport: "We'll see the best situation, if there was an offer of €50 million he would be hard to give up, but at the moment there has been no official request. Cuadrado is a sensitive boy, we'll talk with him."

Their price tag may be enough to deter Barcelona, but United have plenty of money to acquire their top targets, as CEO Ed Woodward has taken delight in explaining.

Cuadrado impressed at the World Cup with Colombia, and would be an ideal fit for the right wing-back role in Louis van Gaal's 3-5-2 formation.

United's frailty in the position in terms of depth was highlighted with Rafael da Silva's injury on pre-season, with only Antonio Valencia as an alternative.

Many may see these two as enough, but Cuadrado's versatility to play a further forward role and operate also on the left makes him even more valuable.

If United really want him, they know how much will talk Fiorentina into a sale, it's simply a question of whether the Red Devils feel he is worth the required amount, or they feel they are being taken for a ride.

Is Juan Cuadrado worth €50 million?
