Jose Mourinho has been praising Chelsea midfielder Mario Pasalic.

Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho has been speaking about Mario Pasalic.

The 19-year-old joined Chelsea from Hajduk Split earlier this month for a reported £3million, but he has since been sent on loan to Spanish side Elche where he will remain for the entire campaign.

But in an interview with Croatian newspaper Sportske Novosti the Chelsea boss revealed just how highly he rates the midfielder.

“You ask me about Pasalic? For this boy I have only words of praise. He is a great player. He is our great hope for the future.

“Unfortunately because of the paperwork…he could not stay with us. He went to Spain on loan and there will be progress.

“These months will go quickly and soon he will be part of our team again.”

High praise indeed from Mourinho then, who clearly believes Pasalic has a big future at the Blues despite the presence of a number of quality central midfielders.

The player made 38 appearances for his former club Hajduk, scoring 11 goals and providing five assists in that time.

When the teenager first moved to Stamford Bridge he revealed that Frank Lampard is his favourite player, and if he lives up to the potential Mourinho clearly sees in him, Pasalic could enjoy a similarly sparkling career.

Do you agree that Pasalic could be a future Chelsea great?
