We bring you the latest news from Newcastle United, Sunderland and Middlesbrough

1) Remy Cabella wants to make Newcastle fans proud

New Newcastle United signing Remy Cabella is determined to give his all for his new club this season.

The French midfielder completed a deal from Montpellier earlier this month and he is now hoping he can impress in his debut season in English football.

“I want to make everybody proud - the fans and the club,” he said.

“To do that I’m going to give absolutely everything.”

It is believed that Magpies fans' first chance of seeing Cabella in action will be during the club’s pre-season tour of Germany, which begins on Saturday with a game against Malaga.

2) Newcastle debate Loic Remy bid

Newcastle United are contemplating the possibility of re-entering the race to sign Loic Remy.

Remy has been one of the most in demand players for much of the summer so far – with Arsenal, Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur all reportedly interested.

However, after his move to Brendan Rodgers’ side fell through this week, Newcastle may rekindle their interest again.

Remy spent last season impressing on loan on Tyneside, but the club felt they had little chance of making his signing a permanent one earlier in in the summer.

Recent events have made them reconsider this, though, and they could lodge a bid again in the near future – with the Frenchman available for around £9 million.

3) Patrick van Aanholt had other options

Patrick van Aanholt has revealed that he chose to move to Sunderland over a clutch of other clubs.

The Chelsea defender completed a move to Wearside earlier this week and he says that he definitely feels he is at the right club for his development.

The Dutchman has spent the past few years out on loan in his native Holland, but he now feels he is ready for the challenge of the Premier League and he comes to the Black Cats with a point to prove.

“I am very happy to sign a four-year deal and I am delighted to be here,” he said to the club’s official site.

“After two-and-a-half-years on loan in Holland - as well as a couple of loans in the Championship - I decided I wanted to prove myself in the Barclays Premier League."

“I had a couple of offers from different countries but the Barclays Premier League is where I want to be, I want to show everybody what kind of player I am and what I am capable of doing.”

4) Costel Pantilimon says he had no doubts on joining Sunderland

New Sunderland stopper Costel Pantilimon says he wasn’t put off joining the club by their struggles last season.

The lanky keeper joined up from Manchester City earlier in this transfer window and is set to fight it out for a place between the sticks with Vito Mannone.

Mannone was over-tested last season, as Gus Poyet’s side narrowly avoided the drop, but Pantilimon says last season had no sway on his decision.

“No, the results from last year didn’t worry me,” the Romanian custodian said.

“I know that at this moment we have a good manager and good players. It didn’t scare me or anything like that."

“I remember the games against Sunderland with Man City last season. We lost the game here, drew at home and we had a difficult game in the (Capital One Cup) final after they scored the first goal."

“I trust what has happened here. We can do more than what happened last year.”

5) Leeds United and Middlesbrough want Danny Graham

Leeds United and Middlesbrough are set to do battle for the signature of Danny Graham, according to reports.

Graham has been made available for transfer by Hull City and the Championship duo are both keen on singing the front-man, who has been prolific at this level before.

Graham spent part of last season on loan at Middlesbrough and Aitor Karanka wants to do a similar deal this time around, but Hull will only allow him to leave on a permanent basis.

The problem is the same with Leeds, who see the 28-year-old is a temporary signing rather than a permanent one.

Would Graham be a good buy? Can Cabella impress at Newcastle?
